Kudos to Election Commission.

The Election Commission of India deserves kudos for its prompt action in dealing with the political leaders who violate the model code of conduct. As matters stand at present, another serious violation of the election code, which is mostly going unnoticed, is the allurement of the voters. Of late, the police are seizing huge amounts of unaccounted cash and bringing the cases to the notice of the Election Commission. Now,the Commission should take steps to disqualify the candidates concerned for distributing cash and also having criminal cases pending against their name.I think the Election Commission has done well in organising the whole election process and more importantly, has carried out its tasks with integrity.I was a part of the first phase of Election 2009 in Orissa and i have witnessed the way EC executed the proceedings of the Election.Few of them were as follows:
1. Requisition of vehicles used for campaigning.
2. Restriction of banners and posters in public and private areas without the prior concern of the owner.
3. Patrolling of cops, checking of each and every vehicles in and arround national highways after 10PM.
4. Strict instructions of no campaigning and using of loud speakers after 10PM.
This were few of the steps which were very crucial and important during Elections and the candidates accepted this with a sense of urgency which was realy appreciable.I would like to comment on those who have thrown accusations at the Election Commission and its chairman and red paint at the EC chairman’s gate, you should be bold enough atleast now to apologize publicly and give due recognition to the Commission’s fairness, if not praise. To hurl accusations is so easy and may win you votes, but to apologise will earn yourself respect.I salute your perseverance and convictions,to the EC,his team and the police force, thank you for ensuring a
smooth and peaceful election.
Guys, one message for all of us,whenever we get to hear about the terrorist attacks via media and news channels what we do? Wait, let me tell you,we just sit with bumps up and start criticising and cursing about the chicaneries of polticians, about the corruptions which they have done, about the hooliganism done while they were rulling and about the wealth they posses for their few generation to gulp.Guys enough is enough i have voted this time and i feel very proud to be apart of and more importantly now i have the right to point my finger on him/her whoever doesn't do their job well.I think i have done my level best to choose the best of the best and now i have a ray of hope that things will be better for the needy and the down trodden people of our country. But what about "YOU" guys.Did "YOU" vote in this election?;Did u do your basic duty of voting if no then guys wake up,time is running out of your hand your country is in the hands of wrong people.GO,go and vote.Vote atleast for the needy who needs a fair "CHANGE" to happen.Change which they and their ancestrals were looking for the past 62 years,Change in the way they live,Change in the policies of the government so that people BPL(Below Poverty Line) can have free mid day meals.Hence, just think how can, your singe vote make wonders for the people of our country.

  1. Hi Saswat,
It is good that you have used your voting power.Definitely the Election Commission of India
has put some watchdogs over the entire election process, which has till now given
    fruitful results.
But in states like Bihar and Jharkhand the way the elections take place is pathetic.Horse Trading is a
way of life and the slogan that is preached there is "one who has the stick owns the buffalo" .
People like Sadhu Yadav contest election, who is a proven hardcore criminal with several allegations.
The movie Gangajal is a right example for this.
But we should not lose faith in democracy and practice voting.
But I think that young people like Rahul Gandhi should come to the front as leaders as they can give fresh legs to our country.

    Love as always,
    Sumit
